Dezire is the band I'm most proud of, because of what we accomplished. It all stated when Tony Scoma came into the Pick-Up Joint to hang a flyer about auditioning vocalists. I had just left April Fool I was playing with Urban Renewal but I was looking for an original band. I told Tony I was a vocalist we talked and decided we would check each other out. I went on the audition and wasn't too thrilled with the results. They had good equipment, and a nice rehearsal studio but it seemed to me I was taking a big step backwards coming from April Fool and playing out with Urban Renewal. They were also looking for a bass player at this time, the guy they had was just a temporary player named John Rosello.

Not long after Tony gave me a call back and said they wanted me in the band, Tony had a lot of charisma and, no pun intended, desire, so I thought I would give it a try. We started off re-working the material the band had already and auditioned some bass players. One was Mike Zaffary, who eventually was renamed Mick. He came in and blew us away by learning our songs almost in one night, needless to say a very talented bassists. Mick agreed to join the group and from there things progressed quickly. I left Urban Renewal, who I had still been playing with at the time and we played our first gig at Walsh's Tavern in Warminster, PA, if memory serves.

Tony and I ran this band, with help from the others, pasting flyers, hanging banners from I95 bridges, passing out newsletters, whatever it took, I used my connections from my other bands and started getting gigs at Bonnie's, The Cell Block, and other original hard rock clubs in the area. In 1991 we stated recording our demo/release. At this point we stated getting a real good following. The demo came out in early 1992 and from there things really started to build up steam.

We purchased a bus and stated touring the east coast, playing from Maine to Virginia, we got major and college radio airplay, did a live video for cable, got our song "Hot Rod Love" on a video soundtrack, won a PA music magazine award for our song "Stay and Fight", opened for Dee Snider's Widow Maker, Ace Freely, and other major acts, things were really starting to click.

Around this time is when Grunge rock stated to get very popular, our music had been more a bluesy/hard rock but music styles were changing so we decided to change as well. We would have been much more popular if we'd started Dezire in 1987 instead. Anyway we started writing newer more grungy material and stated to try and loose the "glam" image by changing the "lip" logo to DZR.

Our guitarist Steve was getting disenchanted by the changes and he was also in the midst of starting a pool business. We decided to look for another guitar player. Asking a brother to leave a group while keeping the other brother is a touchy business, Bill and Steve were very close so when push came to shove when Steve left Billy decided he had to leave as well. To this day I don't blame him, it was the stand-up thing to do. Well auditions started looking for the perfect guitarists. Steve Kristiansen, who was the engineer on our Dezire CD came to mind and we contacted him about joining. Steve accepted and we changed the name of the group to Today We Live and started a new chapter.
