Urban Renewal started with a series of Dom, Paul, Gary and Rick jam sessions at the Pick-Up Joint and evolved into a band when I would sneak in to sing with this great band. I knew Rick from his Time Slyder days and I went to school with Dom. All great musicians this band could really play. The material was a bit obscure, playing tunes from Little Feat, The Dead, Tower of Power, Buddy Guy, etc. but people loved it. We took our name from a Tower of Power album and played many gigs. I have some recorded songs and there are a few videos floating around I left them in 1990 or so to join Dezire. Urban Renewal ranks up there with one of my favorite bands. The last time the original Urban Renewal played out was a Rick's wedding (1997?).
